Episcopal School of Jacksonville Beaches Campus Breaks Ground on New Building
Episcopal School of Jacksonville’s Beaches Campus this morning held a groundbreaking event beginning at 8:30 a.m. as part of the campus’s expansion with a new gym and fine arts center, and state of the art library and learning center.
Guests, including students, faculty and staff, parents and donors, were welcomed by The Rev. Adam Greene, Head of School, and Jennifer Ketchum, Head of Lower School, Beaches Campus.
The new gym and performing arts center will feature a varsity level sized court and two half courts, retractable basketball goals and bleachers, a performance stage and dressing rooms, curtains and chairs, and theatre lighting system.
As part of the expansion project, the playground will move to the site of the current outdoor basketball court and the current library will move to what is now the movement room in Hope Hall, allowing for creation of a new media center and innovation space.
“Today we build upon the vision begun by St. Paul’s by-the-Sea Episcopal Church when it founded this campus more than two generations ago,” said Rev. Greene. “Because of all of those who have worked to make this new facility possible, we know that generations from now, this campus will still be serving students and preparing them for who they will become in their lives. Thank you for believing in our children, our mission and in our school.”
Work on the new building is expected to be completed before the start of the 2022-2023 school year.
