Innovation Lab Sparks Creativity and Collaboration

The Innovation Lab on the Beaches Campus is a collaborative learning environment where students explore engineering and team building. Recently, Ms. Wilson’s Grade 4 students collaborated in groups to build houses out of cardboard that will have electricity. Each student in the group is responsible for creating a room, designing the space and installing a light source. The Grade 3 students in Ms. McGehee class also participated in a group engineering project that involved ecosystems and animal adaptations. “It is exciting to see the collaborative and hands-on approach our students are taking with the lab and learning the engineering design process.  Students build their problem-solving skills that transfer to other disciplines, including math and science,” said Shannon Johnson, Beaches Campus Science Instructor. The Innovation Lab has been a wonderful addition to the STEAM program and we are excited to see what our Eagles will create!
