Ninth Grade Visits Safari Wilderness Ranch

The Class of 2024 spent an exciting day at the Safari Wilderness Ranch in Central Florida on April 30. The one-day adventure provided opportunities for frequent encounters with African and Asian animals.  Students participated in activities they have never done before at a place that is very different from their own community.  They toured the extensive property in open-air vehicles which permitted them to hand feed a variety of animals including ostriches and llamas. When they returned to the outpost, they hopped on camels for a quiet trail ride, and then they paddled across a small body of water to get to the lemur island where they fed the animals and were entertained by their antics.

“The positive attitude and caring spirit of the junior and senior counselors laid the foundation for the students to enjoy their group members and to learn new things about the animals and the environment,” said Marion Zeiner, Director of Scientific Research. “The enthusiasm of the closing circle reflected the feelings that the students have for each other and the fun that they had throughout the day.  Their counselors guided them as they made new friends, did things that they had never done before and developed a stronger class bond.”
