College Counseling and Parents’ Association Host Young Alumni Panel

Five ESJ alumni shared their insight, wisdom, and perspective with students and parents Tuesday evening as panelists for College Counseling Beyond the Basics. Panelists included: Andrew Galant ’17 (Georgia Tech), Audrey McCabe ’18 (FSU), Riley McGee ’19 (UCF), Olivia Kato ’19 (NYU Abu Dhabi), and Lizzie Conklin ’20 (Gap Year/Yale).

Panelists gave their advice for staying engaged second semester senior year, discussed their transition to college, and more.

“Everyone feels awkward in their freshman year. Take advantage of the fact that you are a freshman by asking people for help, where a building is on campus, introducing yourself to others in class,” said Andrew Galant ’17.

When asked what they would do differently in high school and college, our panelists responded, “explore more of their career interests,” “just do the work and study,” “immerse yourself in your new environment,” “don’t let high school define who you will be in college,” “make connections with high school peers who don’t necessarily fit into your social circle,” and “push yourself because Episcopal has given you all the tools you need to be successful in college.”
