Student Lay to Rest Overused Words

Due to the constant and relentless usage by authors all over our school, an extensive list of words has reached the point of exhaustion. As a result of overexertion, all words on the list suffered a collapse and were unable to be revived. Today, sixth grade students “laid to rest” their overused words. Included on the tombstone is an epitaph students wrote in tribute to their word, along with surviving family members (their synonyms).

On Friday, students will hold a special service for their word where they will read a eulogy they have prepared for their dying word.

We love this fun exercise to encourage all students to become better writers!
