Beaches Campus Expansion Plans Announced

Episcopal is excited to announce a plan for expansion on its Beaches Campus, which includes breaking ground on a new gym and common use space in the coming months. This multi-functional facility will allow increased opportunities for sports, fine arts, academics, and more. 

The Rev. Adam Greene and Jennifer Ketchum shared the great news with Beaches parents this morning (Wednesday) via Zoom. Families were able to see the renderings and to ask questions about these exciting plans!

“This new space will provide our Beaches Campus students with incredible opportunities to develop in multiple ways, including athletic and fine arts skills,” said The Rev. Greene. “We are deeply thankful for the generous support of a group of Beaches Campus lead donors who are creating these new avenues of growth for our students by helping us to build this facility. Children for years to come will benefit from this new space and the sense of community events held here will foster.” 

The new facility, which will be built on existing Beaches Campus property, will include a varsity level sized basketball court and two half courts, retractable basketball goals, bleachers, and bathrooms. Phase 2 of the plan will include a performance stage, dressing rooms, curtains, and theatre lights.

Greene shared that parents interested in contributing to this new project are encouraged to contact Missy Ketchum, Director of Institutional Advancement ([email protected]). The multi-phase project has several opportunities for support, including named spaces. Most important, however, is full parent involvement in ensuring all phases of the project can be completed and a community-wide effort to bring these improvements to the campus.

Additional upgrades to the Beaches Campus will include a new space for the library and shifting the location of the playground equipment. The current library will move to what is now the movement room in Hope Hall, allowing for creation of a state-of-the-art library and media center. The playground equipment will move to the site of the current outdoor basketball court.
