Electrical Circuits Unit Brings a Spark to Curriculum

Fourth grade students recently held an open house on St. Mark’s Campus to showcase homemade wired houses they constructed in science class. As part of an electrical circuits unit, students learned about parallel and series circuits, conductors and insulators, and additional related technology. They started off building their own flashlights to apply their knowledge. From there, the class made and connected switches to four different circuits within their homemade houses.

“Students were challenged to be creative with their house design,” said Laura Fackler, Dean of Students and Science Instructor. “In addition to successfully building switches and circuits, they incorporated elevators, trampolines, parking garages, and more to make each house unique.”
