The 42nd Ortega River Run was held on Saturday, February 29, and proved once again to be a true community event!  It was a wonderful morning of fitness and festivities benefiting the St. Mark’s Episcopal Day School’s Financial Aid Program.

We salute and thank Ascension St. Vincent’s for serving as the Title Sponsor and all the sponsors who helped to make this long-standing event such a wonderful success. With unprecedented corporate and individual support, race Chair Jessica Ryals, along with the tireless committee - Kelli Chunn, Rebekah Hagan, Renee Kratz, Susan Kwartler, Doneth Morgan, Stacy McKinney, and Amanda Trimble - helped exceed expectations. The race raised $81,000 for the St. Mark’s need based financial aid program.

This year, the school welcomed over 2,000 registered runners and spectators on race day, and approximately 1,000 individuals Friday evening during the race packet pick-up and the annual Spaghetti Dinner. The entire Baker Green area of the school was lined with tents for over 45 Street Fair vendors.

The Ortega River Run is the fourth oldest race in Jacksonville. Hosted by 1st Place Sports as a Grand Prix sanctioned event, this continues to be a great morning for the entire family. Through the years, participating in the Ortega River Run has become a family tradition for many in our community.
