Applications for the 2025-2026 school year are open and now is the time to apply for siblings at all ESJ campuses!
Episcopal families interested in a sibling applying to the Beaches Campus (Grades Pre-K 3 – 5), St. Mark’s Campus (Age 1 – Grade 5) or Munnerlyn Campus (Grades 6 – 12) should follow the steps below and complete the process by January 31. Siblings receive priority consideration, but space is limited, so be sure to complete the application process early.

Please make plans to attend our Middle School Open House on Thursday, August 29, at 5:30 p.m. Open House provides an opportunity for parents to meet each of your child’s current teachers and proceed through your child’s schedule of current classes. Eagle Ambassadors will be on campus to help you find your way around the campus. Each class will be a ten-minute period where the teacher will present information about the course.
This evening is a parent-only event, and we ask you to wear your parent nametag to help us welcome you. The Open House schedule and a campus map may be viewed here. Please access your student’s schedule in the Parent Portal of My ESJ prior to arrival. To access your student’s schedule in the Parent Portal, beside your child’s picture select Classes & Reports and then select Current Class Schedule. If you need assistance that evening, a welcoming committee will be available in the Bryan Library 5:00 – 5:25 p.m. As part of our sustainability efforts, paper copies of schedules and maps will not be available. Advisory will begin promptly at 5:30 p.m. and the evening will conclude at 7:30 p.m.
While time will not allow for discussion about individual students, please note Parent-Teacher Conferences will be on Friday, October 11, when you will have the opportunity to meet with teachers individually. Additional information regarding Parent-Teacher Conferences will be available in the Insider at a later date. If you feel there are issues or needs you wish to discuss prior to conferences, please reach out to your child’s advisor.

We are excited to announce that flu shots will be available on picture day (September 3) for all students, including seniors, thanks to Dr. Freedman and Medical Express Corp.
Please fill out this consent form, and email it to Nurse Carter at [email protected]. Your student’s account will be charged $28 after the shot is administered. For seniors, he/she must remember to come to the Semmes Gym anytime between 8:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. We will not call into the classroom. Students in 6th through 11th grades will be given the vaccine after their picture is taken ONLY IF the consent form was received. Please reach out to Nurse Carter if you have any questions.
Vision Is Priceless will be screening for risks of eye disease at Episcopal School of Jacksonville Tuesday, September 3, 2024, at 8:00 a.m.
Before the screening:
- Tell your child’s teacher if you do NOT want your child screened.
- Make sure your child wears his/her glasses or contacts, if needed, on the day of the screening.
After the screening:
- Your child’s results are confidential and will only be shared with you and the school.
- Please remember, vision screening is only the first step and does not replace a full eye exam.
- If we find a concern, we will send you a letter explaining what to do next. Early detection can make a difference in your child’s vision, so any vision problems we identify should be assessed by an eye doctor.
A follow-up reminder will be sent, if necessary. Together we can ensure that your child’s eyes are healthy.

Do you have a New Year’s resolution to read more, meet new people or reconnect with old friends? Pick up the book and come to Parent Book Study! Our next meeting is on Thursday, January 30, from 8:30-9:30 a.m. and we will discuss the second half of Chapter 5-Taking the Kettle off the Heat: Confronting Grind Culture, pages 125-140 from Never Enough: When Achievement Culture Becomes Toxic-And What We Can Do About It by Jennifer Breheny Wallace.
Come right after drop off to St. John’s Cathedral, 256 Church St E, 32202 as the doors open at 8:00 a.m., and we will meet from 8:30-9:30 a.m. The other dates for the 2nd Semester are Thursday mornings: 2/13, 2/27, 3/27, 4/3, 4/10, and 5/1.

Reminders
The fourth and final senior Application Kickoff is tomorrow, August 24, from 9:00 am to 11:00 am in the Library conference room. All seniors must attend this session if they haven’t already attended one of the other three sessions offered earlier in August.

About Application Kickoff
Episcopal College Counselors meet with all seniors to ensure a smooth start to the application season and senior year.
We’ll revisit essential tools, including the Common Application and Scoir, ensuring each senior understands the necessary policies, procedures, and requirements.
In addition, seniors will complete important authorization forms, update their college lists, learn about required procedures, and set up individual meetings with their college counselor.
Throughout the year, we (college counselors) guide and support seniors with every aspect of the admissions process – from balancing the college list to brainstorming essay responses to reviewing applications and essays prior to submission.
Application Kickoff is one of many programs Episcopal College Counseling hosts each year to ensure that students are well-informed and well-supported.
One of the fall activities Dads’ Club supports is working the grill at home football games. It’s a nice way to get to know each other while helping the school keep costs down in concessions. Come enjoy the view from the roof deck patio at the new Haskell Center for Science and Student Life while enjoying free drinks, food, and meeting other dads on Wednesday, August 28, at 5:30 p.m. This is an annual highlight for the Dads’ Club to have casual and dedicated time with our Head of School, Rev. Adam Greene.

Last call for a great night in the Sky Deck, exclusively reserved for our group behind home plate. Dads (and their families) are welcome. The price is $50 per person and includes admission to the game, unlimited buffet, soda and water, and premier seating in our area. The game is Wednesday, September 18, begins at 7:05 p.m. and food and drink will be available from 6:30 p.m. – 8:00 p.m.!

Episcopal School of Jacksonville Rowing Information
The fall rowing program is designed to lay the foundation of fitness and technique, which is important in the continued development of the team and spring racing. The team has produced 27 Scholastic State titles over the last 10 years and fall participation is a big part of that success. Below, you will find more specific information for new and returning students. We welcome all new students to come out and give the sport a try, no experience necessary!
Middle School- Learn to Row Opportunity & Returners
New students will be taught the fundamentals of this great sport and learn teamwork and general fitness skills. This is an introductory learn to row fall club program through Episcopal School of Jacksonville.
- What- Learn to Row program for Middle School age students 6th grade and up – Returning rowers sculling sessions
- When- Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays- 3:45 to 5:45pm, beginning August 26 through October 15 (Fall Break)
- Where- Episcopal School of Jacksonville, Walton Boathouse, 6757 Atlantic Blvd. Jacksonville 32211
- Cost- First week try for FREE – Then $250 for the semester billed to student account or pay by check

Upper School- returning rowers and new students
Returning and new Upper School students will be taught the fundamentals of this great sport and learn teamwork and sport specific fitness to build into the spring season. All rowers will spend some time sculling and potentially getting in a single at some point. We will compete at one or two regattas to be named later.
- When- Monday through Friday- 3:45 to 5:45pm, beginning August 26th through November 8th

The practice location is the Walton Boathouse located at 6757 Atlantic Blvd. at the Knight Sports Campus. Students will be transported via an Episcopal shuttle after school, departing at 3:35 from in front of the Munnerlyn Center to the boathouse. Student pick up is at the Boathouse using the entrance at the eastern end of the Clements Tennis Center at the address above. The Beaches and West Side shuttles pick up rowers at the Boathouse for transportation home.
Recent graduates in the last 10 years who have continued to row in college have attended the following schools:
